January 9th 2008 - The Anguilla Red Cross. Guest Ricky Rouphine is looking for a few good men and women to join the Red Cross. He is chock full of information about what the Red Cross offers.
He explained that the seven Fundamental Principles of The Red Cross are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
The Red Cross and Red Crescent on a white background are among the 20th century's most enduring images. In war and peace, and in the midst of suffering and tragedy caused by man-made or natural disasters, they are internationally recognized symbols of help and compassion.
The Red Cross is committed to saving lives and easing suffering. It is a diverse organization which serves humanity and helps by providing relief to victims of disaster.
The Red Cross emblem has been an internationally recognized symbol of protection and neutrality. Around the world, the Red Cross is a symbol that is safeguarded in international law under the Geneva Conventions. In conflict zones, the protective value of the emblem shields Red Cross workers from harm and that is basically the only defence that red cross workes have in conflict zones.
Ricky was very open, honest and forthcoming. and great feedback was received for this show. The Anguilla Red Cross is actively seeking volunteers. If you have some time to donate to a worthy cause then we believe the Red Cross organization will fit on the top of the list of worthy causes.
