April 2nd 2008 - The Spoken Word took precedence on this Let's Talk Show as The man AXA joined the conversation to share some of his thought provoking poetry as well as to better explain the meaning of "the spoken word."
The phrase "Spoken Word" refers to a form of poetry in which a speaker recites a poem or story aloud, either their own or someone else's.
The Spoken Word artist can perform with or without background music. In addition to music, Spoken Word artists often enhance their performance with choreography and other stage-play, such as audience participation, but the main focus remains on the narration.
A spoken word event can be quite emotional since people often times perform peotry from the heart on whatever they went through or may be going through at the moment. The performers have a special way of drawing in the audience into their act.
AXA is the local organiser of the spoken word on Anguilla and he was grateful for the opportunity to share with listeners two very stirring and emotional pieces.
Also joining the spoken word conversation was aspiring poet Anthea Roach who said that she gets her inspiration from anything and everything. Anthea shared a lovely poem with listeners and we do look forward to more spoken word events on Anguilla in future.
AXA promised listeners that spoken word events will be held on the first sunday of every month. This most definitely is something to look forward too.
